SEATTLE -- Shannon Oakes and Amanda Johnson both scored during the first nine minutes of the game, starting the sixth-ranked Seattle Pacific women's soccer team on its way to a 5-2 victory against Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday night.

The Falcons (15-1-2) were coming off a 9-0 rout of Northwest Nazarene three days earlier in which they scored seven goals during a 21-minute span of the second half.

Meredith Teague netted her team-leading 12th goal of the year for Seattle Pacific, building the lead to 3-0 late in the first half. Johnson later made it a double when she scored early in the second half. Brandi Hamre also had a second-half tally for the Falcons, hers coming with just 28 seconds left in the game.

At halftime, the Falcons honored Neil Callahan, a driving force behind youth soccer in the Seattle area who also was a strong supporter of the SPU programs.

Oakes put Seattle Pacific on the board just 4:26 into the game when she drilled a direct free kick from22 yards away on the left side into the far corner of the net. Oakes' goal was her sixth of the season.

Johnson made it 2-0 at the 8:44 mark with an 8-yard shot from the left side.

Teague's goal at 39:51 also came off a direct free kick, this one 20 yards up from the end line on the left side.

Cal State Los Angeles (7-8-3) narrowed SPU's lead to 3-1 when Liz Franco scored off Christine Duff's free kick just five seconds before halftime. But Johnson restored the three-goal margin at 54:16 when, playing in the right side of the box, she found the far corner of the goal from 12 yards away.

Gabbi Segall scored the Golden Eagles' second goal, putting one into an open net at 88:22.

Seattle Pacific had a significant advantage in shots, 21-6.

The Falcons, who are second to Western Washington in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings, play their final two regular-season games this coming week, both at Interbay Stadium. Western Oregon visits on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m., and Montana State Billings comes in next Saturday night at 7.
