SEATTLE – Jocelyn Charette tallied the game-winner in the 25th minute Saturday, lifting fourth-ranked Seattle Pacific to a 1-0 victory over San Francisco State in a non-conference women's soccer game at Interbay Stadium.

The Falcons (1-0-1) rebounded from Thursday's season-opening tie to extend their undefeated home streak to 20 games.

San Francisco State (0-2) was out shot by a 21-3 margin. Goalkeeper Rachel Lauderdale kept the Gators in the game with seven saves.

"I was very pleased. We limited San Francisco State to hardly any chances,"said SPU coach Chuck Sekyra. "And though I felt like we created enough chances to scores five or six goals, I feel confident that those balls will start going into the net."

The Falcons also dominated the shot category on Thursday's stat sheet with 19 attempts to just five for Cal State San Bernardino. The net result was just one goal in that game as well

"If we keep playing this way, keep moving the ball like that, keep playing possession soccer and unbalancing teams I think we're going to have those balls in the back of the net," Sekyra projected. "We had some kids stepping up as freshmen for some injured players right now, so I'm excited about the direction we're going."

The Falcons' sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Dickinson (Vancouver, Wash./Skyview) was credited with one save en route to the team's first shutout of the season.

The stingy SPU defense tightened in the second half and did not allow a Gator shot after intermission. The Falcons had 13 shots in the second half, including several dangerous chances from sophomore Amanda Johnson (Duvall, Wash./Cedarcrest).

Charette (Lakewood, Wash.), a junior forward from Curtis High School, has accounted for all of SPU's scoring this season. She ran on to a long through pass from Meredith Teague (Redmond, Wash./Bellevue Christian) and slid a five-yard shot into the goal at 24:50.

That is the same combination that linked up in Thursday's 1-1 tie against San Bernardino. Teague has two assists. She distributed a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record 16 assists last season.

"They played well together last year as well, so I'm not surprised at all,"Sekyra said of the productive duo. "I'm not surprised that Jocelyn is getting on the end of things. Amanda and Jocelyn and a couple other players are going to have some breakout games where they have a couple goals apiece."

The Falcons remain at home to host 13th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills, Wednesday, Sept. 3. Kick-off is 7 p.m. at Interbay Stadium.

"We're looking forward to playing Dominguez. It's always a good battle,"Sekyra said. "I'm glad we have them at home and glad we're going into that game on a good note."
