SEATTLE – Amanda Johnson scored two goals, including the game-winner with less than two minutes left in the second overtime Wednesday that lifted eighth-ranked Seattle Pacific to a 3-2 victory over No. 24 Cal State Dominguez Hills in a women's soccer game at Interbay Stadium.

SPU improved to 2-0-1 with its second straight non-conference win. The Toros dropped to 1-2.

Johnson's golden goal turned back a rally that saw Dominguez overcome a 2-0 deficit to force overtime. The sophomore forward stopped just outside the box after a long dribbling run down the center of the field and launched a 20-yard blast into the upper right corner to end the game. Janae Godoy (Yakima, Wash./West Valley) and Kelsey Jenkins (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) were credited with assists on the decisive tally.

The Falcons capitalized on a corner kick to get on the scoreboard first. The kick was served into the middle of the box where several players scrambled to obtain possession. Johnson gained control and directed the ball into the goal from 12 yards away.

Johnson (Duval, Wash./Cedarcrest) also factored into SPU's second goal, distributing a brilliant assist.

Jenkins, a freshman forward, may not record an easier goal than her first collegiate tally. She was standing near the left post when Johnson slid a pass completely across the goalmouth that was tapped in with ease. That goal, at 51:46, extended the lead to 2-0.

The Falcons nearly got an insurance goal in the 70th minute, but Meredith Teague's (Redmond, Wash./Bellevue Christian) shot caromed off the crossbar. Instead of a decisive three-goal lead, the opportunity was still available for a Toro rally.

The first Dominguez goal came at 62:57 on a 25-yard chip over the goalkeeper by Jessica Murphy. She then set up the equalizer at 72:20, sending a through pass to Yvonne Vasquez, who placed a 12-yard shot into upper left netting.

The teams were coreless over the next 35 minutes, including 18 during overtime, before Johnson stopped the game with the 11th golden goal in school history.

SPU's junior goalkeeper Jesslyn Rahm (Eugene, Ore.) stopped six shots. Alyssa Congdon had eight saves for the Toros, who were out shot by a 28-15 margin.

Wednesday's game was a re-match of last season's NCAA Tournament second-round matchup, won 3-0 by SPU.

The Falcons conclude their season-opening four game homestand on Saturday, Sept. 6 against Chico State. Kick-off is noon at Interbay Stadium.
