SEATTLE – They swung into action for the first time in 1986 – and won their very first match. The following year, it was their first playoff spot. The year after that, it was their first conference all-star. Since then, it has been five trips to the NCAA Tournament.

For the past quarter century, the Seattle Pacific Falcons have made their presence felt on the volleyball court. Now, as current team members prepare for the program's milestone 25th season, all of those who came before them are invited to join them – at least for one night.

The Falcons will host a special silver anniversary celebration on Saturday, Sept. 25, prior to their Great Northwest Athletic Conference home contest against Saint Martin's. The gathering in Falcon Lounge on the top floor of Royal Brougham Pavilion will include a reception, program, and dinner beginning at 4 p.m.

That will be followed by the SPU-Saint Martin's match at 7 in the gym.

All former SPU players who went on to graduate are invited to attend at no charge.

“It's going to be fun,” Falcons coach Chris Johnson said. “I'm excited to make some connections with alumni and hopefully hear some of their stories and experiences, and learn a lot from them about the history of the program.

It's kind of amazing to look at this being the 25th year. This will be my sixth year, which is a significant amount of that time, but I still feel like I'm brand- new,” Johnson added. “I'm excited about it.”

Players wishing to attend can sign up simply by clicking on the link at the top of this story.

All volleyball alumni are invited to share their favorite memories from their time in the Falcon program. To do so, simply click on this e-mail link – and start writing. Please try to keep those memory notes within approximately 150 words. As they come in, they will be added below this story for all to see and enjoy.
