BURNABY, B.C. – First, it was a millennium milestone. Then a couple of century totals. Now another millennium.

Suffice to say Lindsey Wodrich has shown an affinity for nice, round numbers in this, her senior volleyball season for Seattle Pacific.

Wodrich slammed 15 kills – pushing her past 1,000 for her career – and Shelby Swanson racked up her second straight assist-dig double-double on Saturday night as 24th-ranked Seattle Pacific swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match from Simon Fraser.

Game scores in the Clan's West Gym were 25-20, 25-23, 25-21.

Senior outside hitter Wodrich (Richland, Wash./Richland HS) is now at 1,003 kills in four seasons as a Falcon. It is the fourth major milestone she has passed this season. Earlier, Wodrich surpassed 1,000 points, 100 blocks and 100 service aces.

Wodrich, who hit .367 on Saturday, is the 28th player in GNAC history to pass 1,000 kills. She moved into fifth place on the all-time SPU list for kills, passing Ali Lindberg, who had 995 from 1991-94.

The only SPU players ahead of Wodrich now are Alyssa Given (1,454 kills from 2004-07), Leilani Kamahoahoa (1,249 from 1998-2001), Tosca Lindberg (1,141 from 1989-92) and Stephanie Huffman (1,135 from 1997-2000).

“She's a great hitter, and she has every shot in the book,” Falcons coach Chris Johnson said. “And she used all of them tonight. She just kills from everywhere to everywhere.”

In addition to 1,003 kills, Wodrich is now at 105 service aces, 112 blocks, and 1,171 points.

SPU (20-6, 14-3 GNAC) maintained its slim hold in first place in front of Western Washington (13-3 after Saturday's homecourt sweep of Montana State Billings) and Alaska Anchorage (13-3 after surviving a five-gamer at home against Central Washington). The Falcons have a bye this coming Thursday, then wind up the regular season next Saturday at Billings.

This is the second straight year, the 14th time in program history and the fourth time in coach Chris Johnson's seven years at the helm that the Falcons have hit the 20-victory mark in a season.

Shelby Swanson mug 2011
Junior setter Swanson (Kennewick, Wash./Kamiakin HS) had 32 assists and 10 digs. She now has seven double-doubles this season. (Swanson piled up 54 and 12 digs in Thursday's five-game loss at Western Washington.) Swanson, who moved into 13th place on the GNAC career assist list on Thursday, now has 2,554 and is just 21 assists away from the No. 12 spot.

Jessica Miller mug 2011
Freshman outside hitter Jessica Miller put down a career-high 12 kills, beating her old mark of nine which she established against British Columbia in a non-conference match on Oct. 10. Miller also hit .409.

Sophomore middle blocker Nikki Lowell (Claremont, Calif.) played error-free volleyball, hitting .625 with five kills and no errors on eight swings.

SPU led for almost the entire match. The first game was tied four times, the second game twice, and the third game three times, all in the early going. The only lead for Simon Fraser (1-19, 1-15 GNAC) was at 5-4 in the opening game.

Even so, the Clan was right there for most of the night, cutting a 24-17 SPU lead in Game 2 all the way to 24-23. Their final hitting mark of .215 was the best by any GNAC opponent against the Falcons this season.

“They're definitely a much better team since the first time we played them, especially their ball control,” Johnson said. “I was really happy with our offense, especially in the first and third games. (Seattle Pacific hit a solid .337 for the night, including .515 in Game 1 and .370 in Game 3.) Jessica Miller had her first start and hit over .400, so I was really pleased with the way she played.”
