SEATTLE -- Jobi Wall, a 6-foot-7 wing from Colorado Christian University, is transferring to Seattle Pacific, men's basketball coach
Ryan Looney announced Tuesday.
Wall has two seasons of eligibility remaining and can play immediately for the NCAA Division II Falcons in the 2011-12 men's basketball campaign.
“We are excited that Jobi Wall has decided to attend Seattle Pacific University and become a member of our basketball team," Looney said. "His desire to compete, both academically and athletically, makes him a perfect fit for the mission of our institution and program."
Wall utilized a red-shirt season last year while sidelined with an injury.
As a sophomore in 2009-10, he averaged 16.6 points, including a 36-point performance against Mid-America Christian in the final game. Wall led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) with 7.7 rebounds per game and also topped the league with 98 treys. He shot 44 percent from 3-point range.
Wall was a first-team All-RMAC selection in 2010 and garnered National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-America honors.
“Our coaching staff thought we needed to add one more player with experience that could help us in different ways," explained Looney. "Jobi's ability to rebound, shoot a high percentage from the 3-point line and play multiple positions will really improve our team.”
Looney's Falcons got a first-hand look at Wall on Dec. 30, 2009 at Brougham Pavilion. He amassed 28 points and 13 rebounds, while hitting 5 of 9 treys in a 73-69 Colorado Christian win.
During his freshman season at CCU, Wall averaged 10.2 points and 4.7 rebounds as a part-time starter.
Wall prepped at Faith Christian Academy in Arvada, Colo., helping the Eagles to the 2008 Class 3A state championship. He received the Colorado Player of the Year award.
The SPU men compiled a 20-10 record and placed third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a 12-6 mark in 2010. The Falcons made their seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Highlighting the season was a 76-63 victory over top-seeded Central Washington in the first round of the playoffs.
Wall joins two other newcomers who will join the SPU program next season. Current high school seniors Riley Stockton and Alex Weber-Brader signed letters of intent during the November early signing period to play for the Falcons.
Weber-Brader is a 6-5 wing from Olympia (Wash.) High School who was ranked the No. 3 combo guard in the state of Washington by
NorthwestHoops.com. Listed No. 8 in those rankings was Stockton, a 6-4 wing from Ferris High School in Spokane, Wash. He is the nephew of NBA Hall of Fame point guard John Stockton.
