Falcons wind up the season with 15-11 record; tie for 4th place in GNAC

SEATTLE – Lexi Biondi had 11 kills for Seattle Pacific on Saturday night, but Katelyn Zanders hammered 21 for Alaska Anchorage, leading the Seawolves to a 3-0 sweep of the Falcons in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball regular-season finale.
                    
Scores in Brougham Pavilion were 25-20,25-23, 25-14.
 
The Falcons finished the year with a 15-11 record, 11-7 in the GNAC. The Seawolves, likely bound for the NCAA Division II West Region tournament, went 21-9, 15-3 GNAC.
 




Senior middle blocker Nikki Lowell (Claremont, Calif.) finished her career with seven kills and two blocks. Her final totals were 1,037 kills, 419 total blocks and 1,285.5 points.
 
Lowell wound up as the No. 4 blocker in school history and the No. 2 blocker in GNAC history. She was the first Falcon of all time to play every set of a four-year career – 405 in all. Her final career hitting average of .308 was the third-best in the program, was she was just the third SPU player to finish with a career average above .300.
 
Anchorage ran off four straight points in the opening game to turn a 10-8 deficit into a 12-10 lead and stayed ahead the rest of the way. SPU led for most of Game 2, and was up 22-20 when the Seawolves ran off four straight. The Falcons fought off one game point before UAA closed it out.
 
Seattle Pacific was down 14-7 in Game 3, then eventually closed within three at 15-12. But Alaska Anchorage put the next nine points on board for a commanding 24-12 lead.
 
Junior setter Kendall Langdon (Irvine, Calif.) had 15 assists to lead the Falcons in that department, and junior libero Brianna Leenders (Gresham, Ore.) had 13 digs. Junior outside hitter Jessica Miller (Fife, Wash. / Fife HS) played error-free and hit .300 for the night.
 
Anchorage hit above .300 in all three games and finished at .342. Seattle Pacific hit .162 for the night.
 
Lowell and outside hitter Nicole Schwend were honored in a pre-match Senior Night ceremony.
