SEATTLE – Madi Cavell had a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs on Saturday night, but Central Washington came from behind in the third game to polish off a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball sweep of Seattle Pacific.

Scores in Brougham Pavilion were 25-23, 25-17, 28-26.

SPU (12-10, 8-6 GNAC) was hit with its second straight loss.

The double-double for junior outside hitter Cavell (Keizer,Ore.) was her 10th of the season and the 13th of her career.

However, she was the only Falcon in double-digit kills. Senior outside hitter Nicole Schwend (Oregon City, Ore.) had six, as did senior middle blocker Nikki Lowell (Claremont, Calif.)  Lowell is now at 999 kills for her career. She also had four blocks.

Junior setter Sara Biondi (Sacramento, Calif.) led SPU with 22 assists, and junior libero Brianna Leenders (Gresham, Ore.) had 27 digs.

Seattle Pacific was down 20-17 in the third game when it ran off four straight points for a 21-20 lead. That grew to 24-22. But then, the Wildcats (13-10, 9-6 GNAC) put up three in a row for a match point at 25-24. A kill by Cavell saved it, and a tip by Sara Biondi put SPU on top, 26-25.

But Central then scored the last three points to close out the match.

The Wildcats also overcame a 23-22 deficit in the first game with three in a row to take that one. They bolted to a 9-2 lead in Game 2 and led it all the way except for a 13-13 tie.

Central Washington had 11 more kills (47-36) than did Seattle Pacific, and hit .173 for the match. The Wildcats also got nine points off of blocks, and dug up 69 of SPU's 136 attacks.

The Falcons hit just .103. They came up with 73 digs, including a career-high freshman outside hitter Lexi Biondi (Albuquerque, N.M.). That easily eclipsed her previous best of 11, set in a four-game victory at Western Washington on Oct. 24. Seattle Pacific got seven points on blocks.

SPU hits the road next week for the final time this season, visiting Saint Martin's on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Western Oregon next Saturday, also at 7.
