Seattle Pacific celebrates the accomplishments of 5 players on Senior Day

SEATTLE – Madi Cavell had eight kills and nine digs on Saturday afternoon, but 11th-ranked Northwest Nazarene clinched the Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball championship with a  three-game sweep of Seattle Pacific.
 
Scores in Brougham Pavilion were 25-13, 25-16, 25-19.
 
Junior outside hitter Ellie Britt and senior hitter Jessica Miller added five kills apiece for the Falcons (11-13, 5-11 GNAC).
 
Senior libero Brianna Leenders had 12 digs, and now, with 1,544 in her four years, is just nine away from moving into the No. 2 spot on SPU's all-time list.
 
Kendra Bodine led the Crusaders (23-2, 16-1 GNAC) 10 kills.





NNU had command of the match most of the way. The Falcons got the first two points of the match, then the Crusaders ran off four straight and led the opening game from  that point forward.
 
Northwest Nazarene led Game 2 from start to finish. The teams were tied at 13-13 in Game 3 when the Crusaders put four straight points on the board and never trailed again.
 
NNU hit .297 for the match, with 41 kills and just 11 errors on 101 swings. SPU had 26 kills for the day and hit .070.
 
Senior setter Kendall Carver served up the 50th ace of her career. Carver, Cavell, Miller, Leenders, and Sara Biondi all were honored prior to the match on Senior Day.
 
Seattle Pacific winds up the season on the road next week, visiting Western Oregon on Thursday and Saint Martin's on Saturday. Both matches start at 7:00 p.m.
