LACEY, Wash. – With the championship portion of the track and field season just a week away, the Seattle Pacific Falcons got into a winning mode on Saturday.

Tasia Baldwin matched her season-best mark in the long jump and was one of three first-place finishers as SPU tied for the women's team title, and Peyton Harris set a career-best in the 110-meter hurdles for one of the four victories on the men's side at the Saint Martin's Invitational.

The Seattle Pacific and Central Washington women both finished with 145 points. The Falcons were third on the men's side with 106 points as the regular season concluded.

Attention now turns to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships, set for next Friday and Saturday at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.

SPU senior Baldwin (Tacoma, Wash. / Foss HS) was part of two top-placing performances on Saturday. In addition to her 17-foot, 3 ½-inch long jump, she ran the anchor leg on the 4x100 relay. The Falcons finished in 47.09 seconds, with freshman Becca Houk, junior Jahzelle Ambus, and sophomore Kyra Brannan carrying the baton prior to Baldwin.

Junior Lynelle Decker (Vancouver, Wash. / Mountain View HS) won the 800 meters in 2:12.25. Decker led a 1-2-3-4 SPU finish in that race, as freshman Chynna Phan (2:16.23), sophomore Ali Sowers (2:19.62) and freshman Jessie Mathison (2:20.48) followed her to the finish. The time for Phan (Bellingham, Wash. / Mt. Baker HS) was a career best; Mathison (Lake Oswego, Ore.) tied her career best.

Seattle Pacific added another qualifier to its conference list, as freshman Jessica Rawlins beat the provisional standard in the 1,500. Rawlins (Mill Creek, Wash. / Henry M. Jackson HS), needing at least a 4:39.86, got across the line in 4:39.43. She already was an automatic qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Peyton Harris
In the men's meet, Falcons freshman Harris (Boise, Idaho) had a clean race in the 110 hurdles, stopping the watch in 15.61 seconds. That was .06 better than the 15.67 he posted on April 18 at the Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif.

Senior sprinter David Ferguson factored into a pair of men's victories. Ferguson (Inverness, Ill.) was at the front of a 1-2-3-4 SPU effort in the 100-meter dash. His time of 11.16 was followed by freshman Mario Lopez (a career-best 11.28), freshman Clifford Paulk (11.29), and senior RJ Straker (a PR 11.30).

Ferguson also led off the winning 4x100 relay, as he, Harris, Straker, and Paulk finished in 42.49. That was more than half a second faster than that foursome's previous best of 43.04 at last Saturday's Ralph Vernacchia Invitational in Bellingham, and 24 hundredths better than any SPU 4x100 team this season. It currently ranks No. 6 in the conference and guarantees a lane for next weekend.

Lopez (Chino, Calif.) and Paulk (Marysville, Wash. / Marysville-Pilchuck HS) put together a 1-2 finish in the 200, with Lopez at 22.69 seconds, and Paulk at 23.06.
