MONMOUTH, Ore. – Lexi Biondi had 13 kills, and Shaun Crespi logged the 200th block of her career but Western Oregon had a five-point scoring run in the first game, a seven-point run in the second, and a pair of five-pointers in the fourth to beat Seattle Pacific in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match on Saturday night.
 
Scores in the New P.E. Building were 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22.
 
Senior outside hitter Biondi (Albuquerque, N.M.) also had four digs and two blocks for the Falcons (8-12, 4-8 GNAC). Sophomore setter Symone Tran (Portland, Ore.) recorded her 12th double-double of the season and the 25th of her career, this one with 40 assists and 14 digs. She has eight double-doubles in her last nine matches.
 
Sophomore middle blocker Crespi (Camarillo, Calif.) needed four total blocks on Saturday to reach 200. She had five, with four block assists and one solo, and is now at 121 total for the season. She also had 11 kills, her second double-digit performance in the past three matches.
 
Western Oregon (8-11, 5-7 GNAC) was up just 15-13 in the opener when it ran off five straight. The Falcons came as close as three at 21-18, but the Wolves put the last four in a row on the board.
 
SPU jumped to a 5-0 lead in Game 2. It was still 11-8 for the Falcons when WOU ran off seven a row to go up 15-11, and stayed in front the rest of the way.
 
Seattle Pacific's offense got untracked after the 10-minute break. The Falcons had 19 kills in Game 3 – one more than in the first two games combined – and, except for a 1-1 tie, led all the way, once by as many as seven points at 10-3. The Falcons hit .250 in that one (18 kills-
 
The Wolves rang up five in a row to snap an 8-8 tie in Game 4, then tallied another five straight to extend their lead to 18-10. SPU, down 24-19, fought off three match points before a kill by Amanda Short clinched it for Western Oregon.
 
October will wind up at home for the Falcons, as they play host to Central Washington this coming Thursday and Northwest Nazarene on Saturday in Brougham Pavilion, both at 7:00 p.m.
