IRVINE, Calif. – Gabby Oddo recorded another double-double on Saturday morning, but the Seattle Pacific Falcons couldn't get untracked offensively and were swept by Colorado Christian in the Concordia Irvine Labor Day Classic volleyball tournament.
 
Scores in CU Arena were 25-15, 25-22, 25-20.
 
Freshman outside hitter Oddo (Alta Loma, Calif.) had 10 kills and 10 digs, hitting a solid .304. She now has two double-doubles in the first three matches of her career.
 
Sophomore middle blocker Shaun Crespi (Camarillo, Calif.) hammered seven kills with just one attack error for a team-leading .462 hitting mark. Sophomore setter Symone Tran (Portland, Ore.) earned all of SPU's 29 assists.
 
The Falcons (1-2), who conclude the season-opening tournament this afternoon at 3:30 against UC San Diego (live Webcast and live starts on this link), hit just .106 as a team (32 kills-21 errors-104 attacks).
 
Seattle Pacific had an 8-6 lead in Game 1 before Colorado Christian (2-1) ran off four straight points, part of a 7-1 surge that produced a 13-9 advantage. The Cougars never trailed again and never let SPU get closer than three.
 
CCU bolted to leads of 5-1 and 14-7 in Game 2. But the Falcons rallied, and a run of three straight points – a kill by Crespi, a service ace by junior Sophie Kuehl, and a combined block by Tran and freshman Nicole Tchabanov – lifted them into a 21-21 tie. Colorado Christian responded with four of the final five points to close out the game.
 
The Cougars scored the first four points of Game 3 and led it from start to finish.
 
Sophia Proano and Mollie Bailey each had 12 kills for Colorado Christian, which had 43 for the match and hit .248 for the match. That included .484 in the opening game (17 kills, just two errors).Bailey made it a double-double with a team-high 12 digs.
