SEATTLE – A little something from everyone added up to a lot ...

... for everyone.

Gabby Oddo recorded her fifth double-double of the year, and the Seattle Pacific Falcons got multiple kills from six players, multiple digs from eight, and multiple blocks from three to extend their volleyball winning streak to four with a sweep of Saint Martin's on Tuesday night.

Scores of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference match in Brougham Pavilion were 25-21, 25-17 25-13.

SPU (6-6, 4-1 GNAC) has won four straight for the first time since Sept. 5-12, 2014. In so doing, the Falcons have brought their record back to .500, a mark they haven't seen since Aug. 24 when they split their first two matches of the season.

Abbie Wright
"They're each doing their individual roles very well," said head coach Abbie Wright, whose team has won 12 games in a row – the last three at Simon Fraser, followed by three consecutive sweeps at home. "We've been talking about playing your position and trusting your teammates, and I think we're getting better and better at that.

"The beauty of our team is that though we're small in numbers (just 13 on the roster), each one is really valuable. They're doing a really great job of supporting their position and going in and making a difference when called upon."

Oddo, a junior outside hitter, had 12 kills and 11 digs, hitting a season-high .393 with just one error on 28 attacks.

Seattle Pacific's .271 percentage was 28 points higher than its previous best of .243 from a season-opening sweep of Fresno Pacific.

Junior outside hitter Jaeden Hooker added nine kills. Senior setter Symone Tran racked up 35 assists. Senior middle blocker Shaun Crespi, the reigning GNAC Defensive Player of the Week, had seven blocks to go along with six kills and a .308 hitting percentage.

The Falcons were slow at the start, as Saint Martin's (2-9, 0-5 GNAC) scored the first three points and had a 7-4 lead. SPU put together a 9-1 run to go up 13-8, only to see the Saints respond with their own seven-point surge and move on top, 15-13. It was still a two-point difference at 16-14 when Seattle Pacific scored six of the next seven to move in front for good at 20-17.

SPU led for most of Game 2, taking command with a 7-2 burst that expanded a 14-11 lead to 21-13.

After yielding the opening point of Game 3, the Falcons ran off nine in a row, the last eight of those with sophomore outside hitter Maddie Batiste serving. That made it 9-1, and the lead never dipped below six the rest of the way.

"We're playing more intelligently," Wright said. "The teams that are at the top play the most intelligent volleyball, and they read the game well. Playing smart will in turn help you play hard."

BY THE NUMBERS
-- This is the 33rd straight time the Falcons have defeated Saint Martin's. The Saints' last win in the series was Oct. 20, 2001; the first win of SPU's 33 in a row was Sept. 21, 2002.
-- Seattle Pacific's hitting percentage on Tuesday was helped along by a .517 mark (16 kills-1 error-29 attacks) in Game 3. Its previous high for the year was .371 (14-1-35) in Game 3 at home against Fresno Pacific on Aug. 24.
-- The Falcons limited Saint Martin's to .038 hitting (25-21-105). That's the third consecutive opponent to finish below .100. Western Oregon hit just .034 last Thursday, and Concordia-Portland was at .051 on Saturday.
-- Junior defensive / serving specialist Mallie Donohoe was SPU's co-leader in digs with 11, matching Oddo's total.
-- Shaun Crespi's .308 hitting mark was her second in a row above .300. She hit .385 (9-2-19) in last Saturday's sweep of Concordia.
-- Junior middle blocker Nicole Tchabanov got her most significant playing time of the season, and responded accordingly, with four kills and a .429 hitting percentage. She has missed much of the year recovering from an injury.
