SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific Falcons have one more week to enjoy their homecourt atmosphere – and one big night to salute their seniors..
SPU closes out the Brougham Pavilion portion of its 2019 schedule when Saint Martin's and Montana State Billings come to town for Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches. The Saints are here on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Then on Thursday, the Yellowjackets come calling, also at 7:00 p.m.
Thursday will be a special match, as that is Senior Night in honor of the five Falcons who are close to wrapping up their careers.
Taylor Alicuben,
Mallie Donohoe,
Jaeden Hooker,
Katie Mansfield, and
Gabby Oddo will be recognized in a ceremony prior to the first serve.
Seattle Pacific (11-13, 8-8 GNAC) will be looking to regain its winning mojo. Following a streak of six consecutive W's, the Falcons fell short against Western Washington and Simon Fraser last week, with Saturday's match against the Clan going the five-game limit.

SO LONG TO THE SENIORS
Whether starting or playing key roles off the bench, Seattle Pacific's five seniors have provided their own personal building blocks to the program.
Taylor Alicuben joined the Falcons last season after previously playing at Highline Community College. The setter has seen an increase in playing time this fall, getting onto the court for 14 matches through the 10 weeks of the season.
Mallie Donohoe came to SPU as an outside hitter, but transformed into a defensive specialist, and this year took over the libero's role. She leads the Falcons with 358 digs this year, and last week collected the 900
th dig of her career.
Jaeden Hooker has become a regular at outside hitter, either as a starter or as a reserve. She has slammed multiple kills in 20 of the 23 matches she has played this season, and is on the brink of 300 career kills.
Katie Mansfield is a defensive specialist who has played more sets this season than any of her first three seasons. Her 67 digs coming into this week is more than double her previous single-season best of 32.
Gabby Oddo has been a force at outside hitter. She has accumulated for than 1,000 kills, points, and digs. She also has racked up 50 kill-dig double-doubles. She is No. 2 on SPU's all-time list for kills and No. 3 on the points list.
SO WHAT'S THE STORY THIS WEEK?
-- The
Falcons are looking for a sweep of both season series. In road matches last month, they beat Saint Martin's in three games and Billings in four.
--
SPU has one season sweep so far, that coming against Northwest Nazarene.
-- Those were the
first two victories in what became a season-high six-match win streak.
--
Gabby Oddo and
Maddie Batiste both
came up big in those matches. Batiste had 32 kills in the two matches combined, and Oddo had 29. Batiste double-doubled at Billings, adding 17 digs to her 19 kills.
--
The Falcons topped .200 hitting in both matches: .208 in Lacey, .287 in Billings.
-- That
percentage in Montana included a
season-high 66 kills for SPU.
--
Batiste and Oddo coming the week ranking 3-4 for kills in the GNAC. Batiste has 318 (3.53 per game), and Oddo has 307 (3.41).
--
Those two are dead even on points. Both have 356.5, an average of 3.96 per game, and are tied for No. 5 on the conference list.
-- SPU has
won 35 straight matches against the Saints. The
last Saint Martin's win in the series was a five-gamer on Oct. 20, 2001 in Lacey.
-- Seattle Pacific
has taken the last four matches against Saint Martin's in three games.
-- The
last one that went longer was Sept. 26, 2017 in Seattle. The Falcons won in five, and were down two games to one.
-- If
Seattle Pacific can win both matches this week, it would
finish with a 5-5 home record.
-- The
Falcons and Montana State Billings split a pair of five-gamers in 2018, each team winning at home.
--
Coach Abbie Wright is 5-0 all-time against Saint Martin's and 4-1 against Montana State Billings.

Mackenzie Carter is the Saints' top offensive threat. She has 208 kills for the season a per-game average of 3.30 that ranks No. 6 in the GNAC.
Kylie Coon is next on the kills list. The 5-8 freshman outside has 125 kills, an average of 2.55 per game. She is the top hitter on the team with her .143 percentage.
Iliani Kamaka made her presence felt when SPU visited Lacey last month. Kamaka had a team-high 11 kills, which also was a career high. And she was accurate, hitting .364. When
Alyssa Barelett isn't busy setting up her attackers – she's just one assist away from 500 for the season – she's delivering some solid serves across the net, having accumulated 28 aces.
Bridgett Bourgouin, a 6-1 sophomore middle, leads the way in blocks with 45.

Yellowjackets on the Web.
Yellowjackets in a nutshell: Billings comes into the week looking to snap a six-match overall losing streak (seven in GNAC play). The Jackets came up short at home last week against Northwest Nazarene in three and Central Washington in four. As was the case when SPU played in Montana last month, Billings has a pair of players with nearly identical attack numbers. Junior 5-foot-10 opposite
Bayli Monck has 259 kills, an average of 2.64 per game.
Maddi Vigil, a junior 5-9 outside hitter, is right behind with 257 (2.62). Monck had 11 kills and Reed had nine last time against the Falcons. Same goes for serving: Vigil has a team-high 25 aces, Monck has 23. Sophomore 5-11 outside / opposite
Skylar Reed and junior 6-1 middle blocker
Joelle Mahowald also are into the 200s with 228 and 203, respectively. Mahowald finds the floor with accuracy (.303 hitting, fifth-best in the GNAC) and gets up on the block (86 for the season, with a conference-leading 19 solos).
ODDO DIGS HER WAY TO TRIPLE-THOUSAND
Gabby Oddo is now in some exclusive volleyball company.
Gabby Oddo
The senior outside hitter became just the third player in the 34-year history of SPU volleyball to record a "triple thousand" for kills, points, and digs.
Oddo got there last Thursday when her first dig of the match against Western Washington put her at exactly 1,000 I that statistical category. She finished with four for the night, leaving her at 1,003, then tacked on another 14 in Saturday's contest against Simon Fraser.
At the start of the season, Oddo already had gained a grand in the other two categories. She reached 1,000 points last October against Montana State Billings, and 1,000 kills in last year's season finale against Western Washington.
Oddo begins this week with 1,317 killsm 1,017 digs, and 1,478 points.
The two Falcons who pulled that off before Oddo were
Stephanie Huffman from 1997-2000 (1,135 kills / 1,340 digs / 1,311.5 points) and
Leilani Kamahoahoa (1,249 / 1,397 / 1,461.5).
Oddo is the 19
th player in the 19-year history of the GNAC to reach the triple-thousand.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE DELIGHTS
Triple-thousand wasn't
Gabby Oddo's only milestone last week. In Saturday's five-gamer against Simon Fraser, she logged 16 kills and 14 digs for the 50
th double-double of her career. Oddo has 14 of those this season.
Maddie Batiste added to her growing collection, but the one she had against Simon wasn't any ordinary double-double. It was a double-career high double-double, both in the 20s: 22 kills and 20 digs. Freshman setter
Lindsey Lambert notched her fourth, thanks in part to a career-high 51 assists.
SPU has 33 double-doubles for the season.

AROUND THE WEST
Western Washington has a chance to wrap up the
GNAC championship this week when it plays at home against the Alaska schools.
Anchorage (18-6, 13-3 GNAC), which scored a four-game victory against the Vikings in Alaska last month, comes to Bellingham on Thursday. WWU (23-1, 15-1 GNAC) then plays host to
Fairbanks (13-11, 10-6 GNAC). With a two-match lead and four matches to play, Western can clinch at least a tie with a win on Thursday and clinch it outright by winning both matches.

Still-undefeated
Cal State San Bernardino has wrapped up the
California Collegiate Athletic Association South Division title. The Coyotes (22-0, 15-0 CCAA) are three matches ahead of second-place
Cal State Los Angeles (16-7, 12-3 CCAA) with two matches left. The North Division is still up for grabs between
Stanislaus State (15-8, 10-6),
San Francisco State (15-8, 9-6) and
Chico State (13-11, 9-7). None of them play each other this week, but Stanislaus and Chico both visit San Bernardino.

After leading the
Pacific West Conference all season,
Chaminade now finds itself in second place behind
Azusa Pacific. APU (21-4, 15-2) has won five straight and is 1½ matches ahead of the Silverswords (19-5, 13-3). In fact, the three Hawaii schools are deadlocked in second, all at 13-3.
Hawaii Hilo is 18-6 overall;
Hawaii Pacific is 17-7 – and all three Hawaii's play at Azusa this week: Chaminade on Monday, Hilo on Thursday, and HPU on Saturday.
UP NEXT

SPU's season wraps up in Alaska next week. The Falcons visit
Fairbanks on Thursday and
Anchorage on Saturday, both at 8:00 p.m. Pacific time. They'll be looking to get even with both teams, as the Nanooks and Seawolves opened the season with sweeps in Brougham Pavilion.
