FAIRBANKS, Alaska – A pair of double-doubles for the day. A pair of wins for the week.

Just about a perfect men's basketball road trip to Alaska for Seattle Pacific.

Coleman Wooten
Coleman Wooten pumped in 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Harry Cavell had 11 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double as SPU routed Alaska Fairbanks in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Saturday afternoon, 89-52.

The Falcons (13-6, 10-4 GNAC) led from start to finish on the way to winning their fourth in a row. They also swept their Alaska trip for the second straight season, having come from behind in the final seconds on Thursday night to beat Alaska Anchorage, 65-64.

SPU took control of the game in The Patty Center from the outset and kept it all afternoon. The Falcon scored the first seven points. They were on the board just four seconds into the game when Wooten took the opening tip-off and streaked to the hoop for an uncontested lay-in. He also capped the initial seven-point outburst with a 3-pointer from the right of the lane.

Seattle Pacific pushed the lead up to 11-1, and the Nanooks (5-16, 2-12 GNAC) never came closer than seven, the last time at 19-12.

From there, the Falcons put together a 31-3 scoring run, building a 35-point lead at 50-15. That included a stretch when they kept Fairbanks without a field goal for a span of 6 minutes, 3 second late in the first half.

The 52 points scored by the Nanooks were the fewest allowed by SPU this season. That bettered the previous low yielded at Concordia Irvine in a 76-59 victory on Dec. 18.

Senior forward Wooten's double-double was his fifth of the season and the 15th of his career.

Harry Cavell
Sophomore forward Cavell notched his first in part with a career high on the boards. His total of 11 on Saturday exceeded his previous best of nine, which he had achieved three times, most recently last Saturday in a 91-75 victory against Western Washington in Brougham Pavilion.

Junior guard Gavin Long and senior forward Nathan Streufert joined the double-figures scoring parade with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

SPU dominated the boards, more than doubling Alaska Fairbanks, 55-21. That included a 31-7 advantage in the first half, during which time Wooten had more by himself (nine) than the Nanooks had as a team.

It was the first time this season the Falcons were in the 50s on the boards. The last time they had 50 in a game was Jan. 25, 2018 with exactly that many against Simon Fraser.

Seattle Pacific shot 52.1 percent for the day, hitting 32 of 61. That included 11 of 32 from behind the 3-point line, although the Falcons were especially deadly from downtown during the first half, hitting 10 of 19.

Senior guard Nikhil Lizotte tied his career high with six assists.

SPU is back home in Brougham Pavilion on Thursday, tangling with Western Oregon at 7:00 p.m. The Falcons will be looking to turn the tables on the Wolves, who won in Monmouth by a 73-71 count on Jan. 19.
