Alter Honored as Player of the Week

Junior put 57 points on the board to help Falcons open with 2 wins in 3 games

PORTLAND, Ore. – The season had a much later start than usual. But when it finally did begin, Ashley Alter was ready to go.
 
Alter, who totaled 57 points in three games and helped Seattle Pacific win two of them, has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Alter, a 5-11 junior guard / forward, started out with 12 points last Monday as the Falcons opened the season with a 56-51 victory against Pacific Lutheran.
 
On Friday, she poured in a career-high 25 points, easily eclipsing her previous high of 18, in a 72-66 loss to Saint Martin's. Just 20 hours later, she poured in another 20 as SPU turned the tables on the Saints, 61-50. In that rematch, Alter also led the Falcons in assists with four.
 
For the week, she dished nine assists, grabbed 12 rebounds, came up with eight steals, and shot 45.8 percent from the field (22 of 48). In two games combined against Saint Martin's, Alter played 76 of a possible 80 minutes.
 
This was Alter's first Player of the Week honor.
 
SPU returns to action on Friday with a game against Lewis-Clark State of Lewiston, Idaho, at 6:00 p.m. in Brougham Pavilion. That is the first of back-to-back home games against the Warriors, with the second on set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
