Seattle Pacific embarks on the only currently scheduled road trip of its unusual 2021 season with back-to-back games at Saint Martin's. The Falcons (0-2) make the short, 61-mile drive south to Lacey, Wash. for games on Wednesday, Jan. 20 and Thursday, Jan. 21. Both contests tip off at 6 p.m. in Marcus Pavilion. The Saints (0-1) lost their only game to date, a 98-63 decision at NCAA Division I member Seattle University. The Falcons swept both meetings last year after losing seven of the previous eight encounters with SMU.
Â
Last Week
The Falcons dropped consecutive season-opening home games to hot-shooting Whitworth. In the Jan. 13 opener,
Divant'e Moffitt's 30-point performance was spoiled in a 95-83 loss. The Jan 14 rematch saw SPU take a brief one-point lead with five minutes remaining before falling 69-65.
Harry Cavell had an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double for SPU. The Pirates shot 50.5 percent combined, including 44.4% (20 of 45) on treys.

MEHDI EL MARDI INTERVIEW
Abbreviated Schedule
With six schools opting out this year, the GNAC announced Dec. 17 that there would not be a conference season and the Falcons fended for themselves in finding opponents. SPU will almost certainly play fewer games than in any of its prior 76 seasons. Just once have the Falcons played less than 20 games, and that was in 1945-46 when they competed 18 times (3-15). There are currently 10 games scheduled, eight of them at home and two at Saint Martin's. Each of the home contests come in two-game sets on consecutive nights. There will likely be additional opponents inserted into the schedule and there is a possibility of games being postponed or cancelled if COVID issues arise.
