Hair's Solid Debut Earns GNAC Award

Volleyball freshman is Defensive Player of Week after having hand in 18 blocks

PORTLAND, Ore. – Quick impacts don't come much quicker than the one Hannah Hair made on the volleyball court for Seattle Pacific last Saturday.
 
Playing the opening match of a doubleheader at Northwest University, the Falcons' very first point of the season came on a kill by Hair. The second point was from a combined block by Hair and teammate Maddie Pruden.
 
Hair just kept going from there. By the end of the doubleheader she had 18 total blocks, and the Falcons had two victories.
 
On Monday, Hair was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Hair, a third-team high school All-American at Walla Walla as a senior in 2019, had nine blocks assists in the first match as SPU won, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21. In the second one, it was eight block assists and one solo block to help the Falcons take it, 25-23, 29-27, 25-16.
 
The 6-foot-1 middle blocker also as very involved on offense with 16 kills in the two matches combined – 10 of those in the second one, when she hit .316. For the weekend, Hair hit .281 (16 kills-7 errors-32 total attacks).
 
The Falcons return to action on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Saint Martin's. The first match is at 3:00 p.m.; the second follows at approximately 5:30. Fans will not be allowed to attend, but can catch all the action on the free live Webcast.
