PORTLAND, Ore. – Whether she was attacking the ball or blocking it, Hannah Hair was on target in last week's first two Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball matches of the season.

The Seattle Pacific sophomore hit .514 with 21 kills in the two matches combined against Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington, leading the Falcons to a pair of four-set victories and earning the GNAC's Offensive Player of the Week award.

The 6-foot-1 Hair, who hails from Walla Walla, played an error-free match with nine kills on 18 attacks (.500) against NNU last Thursday as the Falcons prevailed, 25-17, 25-19, 24-26, 25-21. Then on Saturday afternoon in a 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22 win against Central, she slammed 12 kills with just two errors on 19 attacks for a .526 hitting percentage.

For the season, Hair is hitting .331, ranking No. 4 in the GNAC, and is averaging 2.38 kills per set.

Hair was just as big of a force defensively, with 16 total blocks in the two matches combined: five vs. the Nighthawks, and a career-high 11 vs. the Wildcats. Her average of 1.65 blocks per set (51 total) not only leads the GNAC, it ranks No. 3 in all of NCAA Division II.

:She has worked super-hard. She's really humble and is a great teammate," SPU head coach Abbie Wright said. "I'm really happy she's getting some statistical rewards for her efforts right now. She's pretty dynamic and is really finding the court."

This is Hair's third Athlete of the Week award. She won the defensive honor twice during last spring's abbreviated season.
