Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Heit's First Goal comes on Historic Assist from Beadle in 2-1 win over MSUB

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team scored a pair of early goals against Montana State University Billings on Saturday afternoon, as Taylor Heit's first career goal proved to be the game-winner, while Sophie Beadle moved up the all-time career assists leaderboard in the Falcons 2-1 victory over the Yellowjackets.

Beadle earned assists on both goals for the Falcons on Saturday. She entered the day as the conference's assist leader with five this season. With seven assists in 2023, Beadle has 25 career assists for the Falcons. She moves into a tie with Shannon Oakes (08) and Jocelyn Charette (09) for fifth all-time.

"Sophie Beadle is an unbelievable teammate," head coach Arby Busey said. "She has been good from the first day she stepped on campus. Her approach every day is what makes her so special. She shows up with a great attitude and works extremely hard to make everyone around her better. It is very appropriate that she has provided so many assists throughout her time at SPU, she is constantly looking to give to others. Being mentioned with Shannon Oakes and Jocelyn Charette puts her in great company, and her name belongs among the greats who have played at SPU. We hope she continues to add to her total in our remaining games this fall."

Heit's goal came in the 12th minute of Saturday's match. Beadle created the chance with a pass toward Heit. She received the pass and scored for the Falcons. The goal put the Falcons up 2-0 and proved to be the game-winner for SPU.

It didn't take long for SPU to get on the board in the third minute. Again, Beadle was working down the sideline when she sent the ball toward the box. Lauren Snedeker got a foot to it and put it in the back of the net. Snedeker's goal was her first of the season.

"We had a great start today," Busey said. "We were good at the beginning today. It was awesome. We struggled to maintain that intensity throughout the rest of the game and were forced to hold on for the result late. But playing on the road is challenging, and our group got two big wins this weekend."

Mercedes Cullen was in goal for the Falcons. She faced 10 shots and made five saves over 90 minutes of play. Cullen earned her seventh win of the season.

It'll be another road weekend for the Falcons. It starts with a trip to Western Oregon on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m.
