WHAT SHE DID:
Beirne was clutch down the stretch to help SPU knock off preseason No. 11-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills, 58-53, on the final night of the WWU Veterans Classic on Saturday in Bellingham. With the Falcons clinging to a 49-46 lead, Beirne buried a 3-pointer with 1:13 left to make it 52-46. She then went 6 for 6 at the free throw line in the final 38 seconds to clinch it, finishing with 15 points.

QUOTABLE: "Hunter is a great point guard. She can run the show, she can score when she needs to score, and she's just a competitor," head coach  Mike Simonson said. "At the end of the game, she hit a big 3 and made all of her free throws and that just shows her competitive fire. She wants to make plays when the game is on the line, and that's the type of kid that she is."

WHAT HE DID: Evans pulled down 23 rebounds in two games, including a career-high 13 against Chico State on Saturday, as the Falcons split a pair in the CCAA Crossover tournament at Chico State. In Friday's 56-50 victory against Cal Poly Pomona, Evans had 10 boards, along with three assists and four points. In Saturday's 70-56 loss to No. 22-ranked Chico State, he had 13 points to go along with his 13 rebounds for his second college double-double.

QUOTEABLE: "We forget sometimes that he's only a sophomore and last year was, in a lot of ways, his introduction to college basketball," interim head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "So far this year, his confidence is much higher with that year of experience, and he has been a big part of the success we've had early on with some moments. With his physicality and the intensity he brings, our guys feed off of him. He's working really hard and training really hard, and I'm just happy to see that hard work paying off for him early in the year."
