Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Falcons Doomed by Late Run from Rangers

DENVER, Colo. – The Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team wrapped up a holiday trip to the Centennial State with a game against Regis on Saturday afternoon. Both teams struggled offensively before a late run from the home team gave the Rangers enough to take the game.

The Falcons and Rangers were tough defensively on Saturday. SPU went 19-for-50 (38 percent) from the field, while Regis went 21-for-56 (37.5 percent) for the game. Both teams knocked down just six 3-pointers for the game. The similar offensive production made the final moments the most crucial.

The Falcons trailed 55-54 after a Shaw Anderson layup with 3:59 to play. With three minutes to play, the Rangers went on a 10-2 run. They hit six free throws down the stretch to seal the game. The Falcons went 1-for-3 in the final three minutes of the game.

"We were out played physically," Interim head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "We need to adjust better when teams are taking us out of our rhythm. Good learning lesson tonight on what not to do."

Anderson led the Falcons with 16 points, powered by a perfect 8-for-8 performance from the free throw line. He had three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal on Saturday. Trace Evans had 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field. Kyle Luttinen scored 10 points and knocked down three 3-pointers.

The Falcons return to Seattle for the start of a five-game home stand that lasts from Nov. 30 to Dec. 19. SPU hosts Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as they open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
