Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Falcons Rout Royals 113-53

SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team hosted Douglas College on Friday night when nine Falcons scored on the way to the team's highest point total of the season in a 113-53 victory over the Royals.

The Falcons showcased offensive excellence against the Royals on Friday night. They finished the game with a 64.3 shooting percentage (45-for-70) that included 18 made 3-pointers. The team was sharing the ball well, totaling 25 assists. Maui Sze led the sharing with a season-best nine assists. SPU was fearless in getting to the basket, scoring a season-high 52 points in the paint.

"We had a week of practice leading into this game, and our guys worked really hard," Interim head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "Our team pushed each other to get better throughout that week. I'm proud of the way the offense shared the ball. I loved how aggressive we were to the rim and scored the ball near the basket."

The Falcons led the Royals 11-10 before SPU created separation. Shaw Anderson scored eight points during an 18-7 run that lasted 6:13. The Falcons went 7-for-11 during the span. Anderson finished with a game-high 28 points on 12-for-15 shooting with five rebounds.

The Falcons busted out an even bigger run later in the first half. They held a 31-21 lead with 9:16 before pulling away with a 25-3 run over 6:30. SPU went 10-for-13 from the field and 5-for-7 from 3-point range. Kyle Luttinen led the run with eight points, while La Tour had seven points.

The Falcons finished the first half with an exclamation point. Anderson lobbed a pass near the basket for Jadin Penigar, who hammered it home. The ally-oop was the final bucket of the half, where the Falcons led 62-28.

Penigar wasn't finished with highlight reel plays. With 11 minutes to go, Penigar soared through the lane to punch home another dunk. The slam put the Falcons up 87-41.

Logan Kinloch played a career-high 12 minutes and made the most of them. He scored a career-high-best six points on two made 3-pointers. Jacob Gray splashed home a three, while Kobe Elsner had a bucket.

"The guys started the game well," Fazio said. "We were executing most of the things we wanted to do on both ends of the floor. We got some guys in there who have earned the opportunity to play, and they had some success. It's great to see the team play well, especially in front of our fans at home."

The Falcons are back at home on Dec. 16 when they host Linfield at 3 p.m. inside Royal Brougham Pavilion.
