Falcons Land 10 on GNAC All-Academic Team

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its 2023 All-Academic women's rowing team on Monday morning, featuring 10 members of the Seattle Pacific University women's rowing team.

To make the GNAC All-Academic team, nominees must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.00 scale (based on GPA at the current institution). Nominees must be in their second season competing at the nominating institution. Freshmen, redshirt freshmen and transfers in their first year competing at your institution are not eligible. For graduate students, the undergraduate GPA must also meet the 3.2 minimum. Nominees must be on the roster for the complete season. 

"We are so proud of the 10 rowing student-athletes who made the GNAC All-Academic team," head coach Caitlin McClain said. "We are fortunate that our sport attracts incredibly hard-working and high-integrity people who excel in the classroom and in competition. While every person and major is different, this group represents an impressive level of achievement across the various academic disciplines."

Jacinta Grandel and Macie Leach represent the Falcons on the GNAC All-Acadmeic team for the third time in their careers. Grandel and Leach are two of four student-athletes in the GNAC who have made the list three times. Kalais Samuelson and Sophie Sandahl are making their second appearances on the GNAC All-Academic team. 

Audrey Rekedal and Addie Clark lead the squad with impressive GPAs. Rekedal sports a spotless 4.0, while Clark checks in at 3.96. Mary Goodhew, Kristin Grassell, Megan Rouse, and Lucy Sandahl have also made the team for the first time in their career. 

The Falcons wait to see if they've qualified for the NCAA Nationals in Cherry Hill, N.J. that run May 26-28. The NCAA Selection show happens on Tuesday, May 16 at 2:30 p.m.
