SEATTLE – Throughout the summer, the Seattle Pacific sports information team will pose a series of questions to various Falcon athletes. We will feature one athlete each Wednesday. This week, it's rower Audrey Rekedal.

What was the most memorable part of this past season for you?
"It was awesome going to NCAAs for my second year in a row and placing third overall. However, our most memorable race would be our second race in the repechage, where we placed first."

Looking ahead to next season, what are you most excited about?
"We improved a lot this past year, even in communication and unity within the team. It will be awesome to build on this foundation and get even faster on the water."

What are you planning to do this summer – Work? Vacation? Hang out with family? All of the above?
"I have a busy summer, but I will primarily be spending my time in Colorado, where I have an internship with David C. Cook in their finance department."

What is your favorite summertime way to stay in shape and prepare for next season?
"I love doing anything outside. Hiking, swimming, and biking are good ways to stay in shape. I'm from Pasadena, and it can get pretty hot in the summertime. But I often get up early and go on trail runs that go up into the mountains behind my house."

Most athletes went to a summer sports camp of some kind when they were younger. Did you – and if so, what is your favorite memory from a summer sports camp?
"I went to many different sports camps, including gymnastics, basketball, and softball. By far, my favorite was gymnastics. Each day lasted six hours and we spent the first three hours doing drills and working on specific skills. But the second three hours were filled with games and fun team-building activities. It is important to find a balance between hard work and just having fun."

Growing up, what was your favorite thing to do or what was your favorite place to go during the summer – and why was that your favorite?
"My family used to go to Yosemite with a church group when I was younger. It was so fun to camp in the woods and hike by streams and waterfalls. I love unplugging from screens and spending quality time in nature with the people I love."

Someday – maybe sooner, maybe later – what is one place you'd really like to visit, and why that particular place?
"I would really love to go to Greece. That country holds so much history and it would be so amazing to walk where some people from the Bible walked. Not to mention that it is beautiful and I would love to swim in the crystal-clear water and have a "Mamma Mia" moment on one of the Greek isles."
