AZUSA, Calif. – A season-best time in the 5000 meters was a good start for
Matise Mulch.
A career-best in the 1500 was an even better finish.
Matise Mulch
The Seattle Pacific sophomore delivered those two strong performances on Saturday at the Bryan Clay Invitational to help the Falcons wrap up their three-meets-in-three-days track & field trip to Southern California.
Mulch was on the Cougar Athletic Stadium track in the morning for the 5K and came across the finish line in 18 minutes, 4.16 seconds. That was a 14-second improvement from the time she posted on March 22 at the Mangrum Invitational in San Marcos, California. Her career best is 17:57.50.
Then in her early-evening run in the 1500, Mulch hit the wire in 4:44.96. Her previous best in that one was 4:47.45 last April 15, also at the Bryan Clay. Saturday's time was well below her previous season best of 4:57.82, just last Friday at the Doris Heritage Invitational in Renton.
Sophomore
Maya Ewing ran a season-best in the 1500, clocking 4:49.14.
AND THAT'S NOT ALL
--Senior
Lizzy Daugherty placed third in the Open B Division of the women's pole vault. Daugherty cleared 12 feet, 2½ inches.
UP NEXT
The Falcons will make the drive to Ellensburg next Saturday for the
Wildcat Invitational. Competition at the Central Washington Recreation Sports Complex begins at 9:00 a.m. in the field and noon on the track. The final event is set for 6:55 p.m.
