Falcons Earn NABC Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced the recipients of the 2024-25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards and the NABC Honors Court, with the Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team earning the award, along with nine student-athletes making the honors court.

We're extremely proud of all of our players' effort in the classroom," head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "This is a testament to each of them and their dedication to their studies. In our program, we strive to excel on the court and in the classroom. Our program has a history of being one of the best, if not the best, academic men's basketball teams, and each year we take that challenge very seriously. Our student-athletes did a tremendous job this year."

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Falcons finished the year with a 3.53 team GPA. They had the second-highest team GPA in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Falcons' 2024-25 season was successful on the court as well. The team made a run through the GNAC Championships to secure their 30th trip to the NCAA Tournament in program history. Mason Landdeck was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. He was joined on the All-Tournament team by Moriarty and Nap.

Three Falcons earned GNAC All-Conference honors. Nap led the group with a First Team All-Conference selection. Trace Evans earned a Second Team nod, while Moriarty was named Honorable Mention.

The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Brian Caldera, Grant Coleman, Jaxon Nap, Jonas La Tour, Julian Mora, Logan Kinloch, Nikias Schoenerstedt, Owen Moriarty, and Trace Evans were all named to Honor Court.

SPU put seven student-athletes on the GNAC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team. The Falcons made up seven of the 25 selections to the GNAC All-Academic Team. Trace Evans is one of five players earning honors for the second time. Logan Kinloch touts the highest GPA on the GNAC All-Academic Team. Kinloch owns a 3.97 while studying business administration.

The NABC's academic awards are presented annually to teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball. Over 2,400 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court, and nearly 400 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2024-25.
