PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, with Seattle Pacific's
Taylor Krueger named as the GNAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
"Taylor [Krueger] was really good last week," head coach
Arby Busey said. "She made huge contributions on both sides of the ball! Point Loma is an explosive attacking team; we all had to be great defensively, and Taylor [Krueger] provided a lot to our effort without the ball. And with the ball, she has many special qualities, and they were on display throughout the game. She provided great service of the ball into dangerous areas and showed a lot of composure in her finish when scoring the goal."
Krueger opened the 2025 season with a key moment for the Falcons. In the 22nd minute,
Andie Buckley sent a ball down the right sideline that gave Krueger a one-on-one opportunity. Krueger gained control of the ball before taking a shot. Krueger's low-line drive got past the keeper and into the back of the net to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead over ninth-ranked Point Loma. The goal proved to be the game-winner for SPU.
Krueger's heroics have been seen before. In 2024, Krueger opened the season with a goal against Sonoma State. It was the first of five for the Falcons in a 5-2 victory over the Seawolves. Last Thursday, the Falcons only needed Krueger's goal to get the victory. Krueger's game-winner against the Sea Lions was the third of her career.
Krueger's resumé continues to get longer and longer. In 2023, she was named GNAC Newcomer of the Year and earned GNAC Honorable Mention. Last season, Krueger was named the GNAC Co-Player of the Year and was a unanimous First Team All-GNAC selection. She was named 2024 D2CCA First Team All-West Region and was a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American. Monday's GNAC Offensive Player of the Week award was the second of her career.
The Falcons hit the road for two matches in Denver, Colo., this week. SPU takes on MSU Denver on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. PST, followed by a match against Regis on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. PST.
