Falcons Tripped up by Seawolves in Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year Trace Evans scored a game-high 18 points while grabbing eight rebounds for the Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team on Thursday night, but it wasn't enough for the Falcons to get past Alaska Anchorage, 54-50.

"Came up short," head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "When you're on the wrong side of close games, they tend to start to weigh more. We have to pick ourselves back up. Keep fighting."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons opened the game against the Seawolves on an 11-6 run, capped by a layup from David Zachman.
    • The run lasted 6:15 and was led by four points from Theo McMillan.
  • UAA took the lead back from SPU with 6:08 left to play in the first half, starting an 11-5 run for the Seawolves.
    • The Falcons committed five turnovers during that span.
  • SPU used a 19-10 run to start the second half to go up 39-35 with just under 10 minutes left in the game.
    • Evans took over during this stretch, scoring 10 points for the Falcons.
  • Theo McMillan hit a free throw with 2:27 left to play, giving the Falcons a 46-45 lead late.
  • It went on to be SPU's last lead of the game, as UAA closed it out on a 9-4 run to take the game 54-50.

  • The Falcons shot 41.2 percent (21-for-51) from the field on Thursday against the Seawolves.
  • Evans scored a game-high 18 points and pulled in eight rebounds for the Falcons.
