15th-Ranked Wildcats too much for Falcons

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team challenged 15th-ranked Central Washington on Saturday evening, but the Wildcats pulled away from the Falcons to take the game 69-53.

"We defended well," head coach Karen Byers said. "Turley got five steals as our ball pressure was good. We are still struggling on the boards and need to make some adjustments. I am happy about our second half, and it was an improvement over the last time we played Central."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons started the game well, going on a 10-6 run over the first five minutes against the Wildcats.
  • After the Wildcats tied the game at 10 to end the first quarter, they went on a 22-10 run during the second quarter.
    • Grace Turley was strong for the Falcons in the second quarter, scoring eight of the team's 10 points.
  • The Wildcats led 32-20 at halftime.
  • CWU outscored the Falcons 23-15 in the third quarter, giving them a 20-point lead with 10 minutes left in the game.
  • The Falcons played a strong fourth quarter, going 8-for-13 from the field during that 10-minute span.
    • Grace Leasure scored 11 points in the second half, the most of any Falcon during that span.
  • The Wildcats held onto their lead and took the game 69-53.
