Leasure's Career Night Leads Falcons to Victory over Nanooks

SEATTLE – Grace Leasure scored a career-high 21 points with a career-high 13 rebounds in her first career double-double for the Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team on Thursday night against Alaska Fairbanks, leading the Falcons to a 78-63 victory over the Nanooks.

"I'm proud of the team, how we rebounded, made the defensive adjustments, and stayed the course," head coach Karen Byers said. "Grace Leasure had a massive double-double, Grace Turley and matters knocked down huge 3's for us, and Haylie-Anne Ohta led the team with her leadership. It was a great win."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first three quarters between the Falcons and the Nanooks featured back-and-forth action.
    • The game featured three ties and seven lead changes.
    • The Falcons owned the lead for 50.3 percent of Thursday's game.
  • The Falcons took over and won the game in the fourth quarter with a 22-8 run over the final 10 minutes of the game.
    • SPU went 9-for-19 from the field, with three made 3-pointers in the quarter.
    • Grace Leasure led the charge for the Falcons with nine points, while Grace Mertes poured in six points of her own.
    • While the offense got going, the SPU defense clamped down on AUF.
    • The Falcons forced the Nanooks to go 3-for-14 from the field over the final 10 minutes of the game.

  • Leasure was sensational for the Falcons on Thursday night, scoring a game-high 21 points while grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds with three assists and three blocks.
