Sandberg Shines in the Falcons 67-59 Victory Seawolves

SEATTLE – Henry Sandberg had a game-high 16 points and seven rebounds for the Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team against Alaska Anchorage on Saturday afternoon, when a stout defensive effort helped the Falcons earn a 67-59 victory over the Seawolves.

"Two conference games remaining on the schedule entering today," head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "It was a must-win game for us. I'm proud of our guys for rising to the moment. One more to go, a week from today."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a 3-pointer to open the game for the Seawolves, the Falcons went on a 12-6 run to take a 9-12 lead with 12:41 left in the first half.
    • SPU went 6-for-9 from the field during this stretch.
    • Brant Heppner and Trace Evans led the group with four points each.
  • The Seawolves answered with a three-minute 13-2 run to go up 22-14 with nine minutes to go in the first half.
  • The Falcons responded by closing out the half with a 19-13 scoring advantage.
    • SPU went 8-for-11 from the field during this stretch.
    • Theo McMillan was excellent during this stretch, leading the team with seven points.
  • A 3-pointer from Henry Sandberg at the end of the first half had the Falcons chasing a two-point deficit at halftime.
  • The Falcons created separation for themselves over the first 11 minutes of the second half by going on a 21-10 run to take a 54-45 lead with 8:23 left to play.
    • Defensive intensity was a difference maker during the Falcons' run, as they forced six turnovers and grabbed four steals from the Seawolves during that stretch.
    • Sandberg led the offensive charge with seven points during that stretch, Evans scored five, and Aengus Sutherland added four points of his own.
  • The Seawolves cut the Falcons' lead to three points with 3:10 left in the game.
  • Connor Drinkwine answered with a 3-pointer for the Falcons, as the team went on to make six free throws in the final 1:20 to take the game 67-59.

  • It was another efficient offensive performance from the Falcons on Saturday evening, as they went 27-for-48 (56.3 percent) from the field for the game.
  • Sandberg scored a game-high 16 points while going 7-for-11 from the field, with seven rebounds and three assists.
  • Evans scored 14 points and went 4-for-6 from the free throw line for the Falcons.
    • He grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as well.
  • Heppner knocked down a pair of 3-pointers on his way to scoring 10 points.

  • Saturday's victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Falcons.
