Yates Scores Career-High for Falcons against Vikings

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team traveled to Western Washington for a game on Thursday night, where Cascadia Yates led the team and scored a career-high 11 points, but the Falcons couldn't overcome the Vikings and fell 72-43.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a 13-3 run from the Vikings to open the game, the Falcons answered with a 9-2 run of their own.
    • Grace Mertes knocked down a 3-pointer, followed by back-to-back triples from Yates.
  • The Falcons trailed 17-12 at the end of the first quarter.
  • SPU's offense sputtered in the second quarter, going 1-for-14 from the field during that period.
  • The Falcons trailed 39-15 at halftime.
  • Julia Lavigne led the Falcons with four points in the third quarter, with four other Falcons recording points during that span.
  • The Falcons matched the Vikings' offensive output over the final 10 minutes of the game.
