CHICO, Calif. – Lauren Lee became the first player in Seattle Pacific University women's golf history to win a tournament outright at the Chico State Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, where consistent rounds led her to the top spot in the tournament, helping the Falcons finish second in the five-team tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lauren Lee's consistent play led to a 76 in round one.
- She shot par or better on 14 of the 18 holes, highlighted by a birdie on the second hole.
- Lee's four-over-par performance put her in sole possession of second place heading into Tuesday's second round.
- Lee played another consistent round on Tuesday, finishing with a 75.
- Her round was carried by the final nine holes, where she shot an even par 36.
- Lee finished the tournament with a 76 in round one and a 75 in round two, to be seven over par for the tournament.
- Lee's constancy led her to an individual championship, beating the next closest competitor by two strokes.
- Zoe Garcia wasn't far from Lee, shooting a 78 to land in a tie for fourth after day one.
- Garcia's first round featured a birdie on the 16th hole.
- Garcia shot an 83 during the second round and finished tied for 13th individually.
- Anika Schau had a solid opening round, shooting an 80 and putting herself in a tie for ninth place halfway through the tournament.
- Schau had a better second round, matching Lee's score of 75 over 18 holes.
- She was excellent over the first nine holes, shooting one over par.
- A birdie and three bogeys on the second nine led her to a three-over-par performance in round two.
- Stella Johnson tied Brigitte Fenton, who played independently from the Falcons, for 20th place individually in the tournament.
- Natalie Eklund's best round during the tournament was an 82, landing her in 23rd place individually for the Falcons.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Lee became the first Falcon in program history to win a tournament outright with her seven-over par performance at the Chico State Invitational.
- The second-place finish for the Falcons matches a program best, set at the HPU Shark Shoutout on Oct. 24-25, 2025.
