ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team capped its three-game Northern California road trip with its third consecutive victory to open the 2026 season, defeating Cal State East Bay 4-3 on Tuesday.
 
FROM THE COACH
"Great to be 3-0, but lots of growth still needed for our group," head coach Arby Busey said. "Got out to a big lead today and nearly let it get away from us! It's still early in the season, and we are developing our identity game by game. We do a lot of really good things and have some areas that we'll continue to improve upon."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ashlyn Valdovinos scored the first goal for the Falcons from the center of the box that was assisted by Andie Buckley.
• A few moments later, Logann Dukes fired away from the right side with a shot that snuck into the lower left corner to put the Falcons up 2-0.
  • Grace Coston was credited with an assist on the goal from Dukes.
• The Falcons owned a 2-0 lead at halftime over the Pioneers.
• 71 seconds into the second half, Natalie Carroll took advantage of a one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper to put the Falcons up 3-0.
  • Peyton Dukes supplied the pass that created the chance for Carroll.
• In the 48^th minute, Sophie Hanay scored the Falcons' fourth goal of the match when Buckley sent a ball in from left to right that Haney finished at the back post.
• The Pioneers didn't lay down for the Falcons, as their furious comeback attempt started in the 58^th minute when Kaylie McKee scored a goal for the home team.
• CSUEB scored again in the 69^th minute when a deflection landed in front of Grace Moeder, allowing her enough space to score a goal and move the score to 4-2 in favor of the Falcons.
• Shortly after, the Pioneers cut the Falcons' lead to just one when Taylor Hodges scored a goal in the 71^st minute.
• The Falcons were able to keep the Pioneers off the scoreboard for the final 19 minutes of the match to secure a 4-3 road victory.

FROM THE BOX SCORE

• The Falcons finished the match with 16 shots, 11 of which were in the second half, with eight of their shots being on goal throughout the match.
  • The Pioneers had 12 shots, nine of which were on goal.
  • The Pioneers had 10 corner kicks during the match on Tuesday.
• Haley Teofilo led the Falcons with four shots during the match, while Carroll had three shots, two of which were on goal.
• Buckley had a game-high two assists for the Falcons on Tuesday.
• Landry Schoennauer played all 90 minutes in goal for the Falcons, facing 12 shots and making six saves. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Buckley recorded two assists in a single match for the first time in her career as a Falcon.
• Carrol recorded the first goal of her career with the Falcons on Tuesday against the Pioneers.
• The Falcons have now won five consecutive games in the Golden State with the streak starting with a 5-2 victory over Sonoma State on Sept. 5, 2024.

UP NEXT
The Falcons play their home opener on Sept. 12 at 11:00 a.m. when they host Colorado Mesa at Interbay Soccer Stadium.
