DALLAS – The 11^th-ranked Seattle Pacific University men's soccer team traveled to Dallas for its first of two nonconference games in the Lone Star State this weekend, starting with a match against Dallas Baptist University, where Willem Ficek recorded his third shutout this year in the Falcons' 1-0 victory over the Patriots.

"The guys played well tonight," head coach Kevin Sakuda said. "Winning on the road is never easy, and I was proud of the way we competed against a tough DBU team. We had some good moments in possessions, but I'm really happy for the entire group in keeping another clean sheet."

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ficek came up big for the Falcons early, saving a DBU shot on goal in the sixth minute of Wednesday's match.
• The Patriots had a couple of corner kicks in the 30^th minute, but Ficek and the Falcons defense kept them off the board through the first half.
• In the 59^th minute, Ficek made what would be his final save of the match and went on to keep DBU scoreless in Wednesday's match.
• Then, in the 67^th minute, JJ Diaz fired a shot toward the goal that ricocheted in front of the net and was put away by the Falcons.
  • SPU was credited with a team goal for what proved to be the game-winner against DBU.
• The Falcons kept the Patriots off the board over the final 23 minutes of the match to pick up a 1-0 road victory.

FROM THE BOX SCORE

• The Falcons were relentless in their attack, finishing the match with 16 shots, two of which were on goal.
• Judah Straight, Harper Sabari, Isaac Ketcham, Cooper Schneider, and JP Guzman led the Falcons with two shots each.
  • Each of Guzman's shots was on goal for the Falcons.
• Ficek played 90 minutes in goal for the Falcons, facing 13 shots, three on goal, as he made two saves on his way to another clean sheet.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• It was the second-ever meeting between the Falcons and Patriots on Wednesday night, with SPU now holding a 2-0-0 record against DBU all-time.
• Ficek has recorded back-to-back shutouts for the Falcons.
  • It's the first time the Falcons have recorded consecutive shutouts since Sept. 13 & Sept. 18 of 2025.
