SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific University women's volleyball team played its first home match of the 2026 season when they hosted Western Oregon on Thursday night. The Falcons found a way to outlast the Wolves and take the match 3-2 (24-26, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13).

"Definitely a battle and a back-and-forth match," head coach
Jason Rhine said. "We knew that Western Oregon was going to fight hard and serve tough, which always makes it difficult to get in a rhythm. Excited about the way we continued to stay aggressive in transition all the way through the end of the 5th set. Felt like we had to grind it out, but happy to come away with a win, and we will be back at it in preparation for another big match on Saturday."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons had a chance to close out the first set, but three attack errors from SPU gave it to the Wolves 26-24.
- Joslyn Greff had a hot start for the Falcons, racking up five kills in the opening set.
- SPU opened the second set with a 7-1 run over the WOU.
- The Wolves made it interesting late with an 8-5 run against the Falcons, but SPU held on to take the second set 25-23.
- Amaya Evans led the way in the second set, smashing five kills for the Falcons.
- The Falcons used a 10-4 run in the middle of the third set to pull within two points of the Wolves in the closing stages.
- WOU answered with a 4-0 run to close out the third set and take it 25-19.
- The Falcons trailed the Wolves 21-20 in the fourth set, as SPU pulled out a 6-2 run to force a fifth set, 25-23.
- Megan Omlid led the Falcons with six kills in the fourth set.
- The Wolves jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the final set of the match.
- SPU turned to a 9-3 run to go up 11-8 in the closing moments of the match.
- Audra Rose had the final kill of the match, giving the Falcons a 15-13 set victory and the match 3-2.
- The Falcons finished the match strong, hitting .276 to close out the game.
- Greff had four kills in the abbreviated fifth set for the Falcons.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- SPU finished the match with a .187 hitting percentage, while racking up 62 kills over five sets.
- The Falcons gained an advantage from behind the service line with six aces during the match.
- Omlid led the Falcons with 16 kills while adding nine digs and three assists to a solid night.
- Greff and Evans matched each other with 14 kills each.
- Rose finished with 11 kills on a .261 hitting percentage with three total blocks.
- Peyton Ensign led the Falcons with 27 assists and 15 digs for the double-double.
- Christina Lopez finished the match with a team-high 24 digs while adding four service aces.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons have extended their winning streak against Western Oregon to nine games.
- The streak started on Sept. 29, 2022, in Seattle.
- Ensign recorded her fourth double-double of the season and has had them in back-to-back matches.
