LACEY, Wash. - The Seattle Pacific University women's golf team competed in its first tournament of the 2026-27 season at the Grisham Memorial Shootout at The Home Course on Monday and Tuesday.
Emma Worgum was sensational in her debut for the Falcons, becoming the second SPU women's golfer in program history to win a tournament outright. At the same time, the Falcons finished tied for the top spot in the tournament.
FROM THE COACH
"We couldn't have asked for a better start to the season," head coach
Tyler Copp said. "We had some challenges in round one and responded so well in round two. We are doing our best to stick to our process and find ways to grow."
"Emma was going to be tough to beat today," Copp said. "She did a really good job in all areas of her game, specifically her lag putting and clutch up-and-downs to convert par saves. It was impressive to see her sleep on a 1-stroke lead after round one and come back to fire another 70."
"Lauren played terrific," Copp added. "She really was able to make some adjustments on the green, and her ball striking picked up right where she left off from last year's spring season. Zoe's bounce-back round two was a big reason why we set a school record for team score. Her 11-stroke improvement was guided by 17 greens in regulation and five birdies. This was Alle's first tournament in our lineup. Playing the fifth spot and posting two consistent rounds allowed us to stay in the tournament as a team. Alle finished her final nine holes at -3."
