Biography

SPU: Three-year letterwinner and two-year returning starter in middle…First team all-conference as a junior. Academic all-conference and team’s most inspirational as sophomore and junior and co-most improved as sophomore.

Junior: Led team in blocking (1.09) and hitting percentage (.264), finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, in GNAC…Program’s biggest offensive force in middle (2.81 kills) since Tosca Lindberg (3/06) in 1992…Eleven matches of 10 or more kills and hit over .300 12 times…GNAC player of the week after totaling 22 kills and seven blocks in win at Central Washington. Hit .516 with 19 kills vs. Alaska Anchorage…One of four players to play all 94 games.

Sophomore: Finished fifth in GNAC blocking and had team’s top attacking percentage (.238) of players with more than 300 attempts…Hit for 25 kills in home win over Western Washington and had eight blocks at Anchorage…Finished with eight matches of 10 or more kills.

Freshman: Started six matches midway through the season, and had three consecutive matches with eight kills.

Kentlake High School: Three-year letterwinner as middle blocker...First team all-Kingco selection as a senior...Led Falcons in kills, blocks, digs, and service aces senior year...Lettered three years in basketball…Also played for Kent Juniors volleyball club.

Personal: Rachel Jenae Biornstad was born October 5, 1985 in Orlando, Florida...Completed bachelor’s degree, majoring in computer science, and currently taking graduate level classes.
