Chris “Bubba” Filios entered his third season as an assistant coach in the Seattle Pacific men’s basketball program during the 2012-13 season. Filios was hired as a Falcon assistant coach on September 1, 2010. He spent the previous seven seasons working with the men’s basketball program at Gonzaga University.
During his time at Gonzaga, Filios served as both head student-manager (2003-2007) and graduate assistant coach (2007-2010). He was actively involved in all aspects of the basketball program with his primary responsibilities including assisting with the team’s academic progress, scouting, on-campus recruiting, team travel, scheduling, player development, and overseeing the program’s film exchange and video operations.
Additionally, he assisted and ran the Gonzaga Men’s Basketball Summer Basketball Camps that accommodated over 300 boys’ high school basketball teams, 400 high school coaches, and 500 individual campers per summer.
During his seven years at Gonzaga, the Bulldogs posted a 186-44 (81%) record in which they won seven West Coast Conference Championships, and went to seven NCAA Tournaments -- including two Sweet 16 appearances and sent 16 players on to play professional basketball.
Filios graduated from Gonzaga University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics and a minor in Sports Management. In 2009, he earned his Master’s Degree from Gonzaga University in Organizational Leadership.
Filios, born in Mountain View, CA, attended Saint Francis High School. At Saint Francis, he lettered for both the basketball and golf teams as a junior and senior. In 2002, as a member of the basketball team, the Lancers won both the Central Coast Section Championship and NorCal Championship, finishing runner-up at the California State Championship. As a member of the golf team, Filios and the Lancers won the West Catholic Athletic League Championships in 2002 and 2003, as well as a Central Coast Championship in 2002 and NorCal Championship in 2003.
