Carolyn Farny is back as a volunteer assistant coach at SPU. She previously served as a volunteer assistant in 2016 and 2017.
The native of Fort Wayne, Ind., is a graduate of the University of Washington. She has coached for various periods of time since 2002, having worked at UW camps and also with the Seattle-based Cascade Volleyball Club.
At Concordia Lutheran High School, Farny was named the Fort Wayne Volleyball Player of the Year as a senior, and was a two-time Indiana All-State selection.
She also made her mark as a basketball player and as a student. On the court, she set school records for most rebounds in a season and career. In the classroom, she earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.
Farny then headed west to join the Huskies, and was on the 2005 team that won the NCAA national championships. She has lived in Switzerland for six months as an au pair. In addition to volleyball, Farny enjoys watching football and gymnastics.
