AUSTIN, Texas – Seattle Pacific men's soccer standout
Travis Swallow became a rare four-time recipient when the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-America men's soccer team for NCAA Division II were announced on Wednesday.
A product of Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Swallow boasts an impressive 3.94 grade point average at SPU in a business administration curriculum. He is also a four-time member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference academic team.
Swallow received national scholastic acclaim in each of the last four seasons, a unique achievement among the elite group honored. He was featured on the list of 12 first-team recipients, and 35 overall student-athletes, recognized annually by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) that factors in both classroom and on-field performance.
A second-team selection in both 2020 and 2019 and third-team selection in 2018, Swallow was named to the first team this year. Not only is he the lone four-time recipient, but there are no three-time winners on this year's Academic All-America team that includes first, second and third-team members.
Swallow is the only player in SPU men's soccer history to earn Academic All-America acclaim more than twice. Overall, nine Falcons have combined to collect 15 Academic All-America certificates.
Seattle Pacific has placed at least one player on the men's soccer scholastic squad for eight consecutive years, including former Falcons Davis Karaica and Jordan Kollars who were each named to the team in both 2015 and 2016.

Swallow also excels on the field where he garnered second-team All-GNAC acclaim in 2021 after being an honorable mention pick in 2019.
The senior midfielder ranked third on the 2021 team with five goals and two of them were game-winning scores. He tallied two goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-3 home win over Simon Fraser on Nov. 4.
Swallow also distributed two assists for a 12-point total that was the Falcons' third-highest figure.
For his career, Swallow compiled 10 goals and six assists despite playing as a defender his first few seasons.
Swallow helped the Falcons finish with a 12-4-2 record in 2021, their most wins in six seasons. They captured the GNAC championship with a 6-2-2 conference record.
Seattle Pacific concluded the 2021 campaign on Nov. 18 with a 1-0 loss to Colorado State Pueblo in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. That marked the program's first postseason appearance since 2015.
The academic awards program is produced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 grade-point average, have already completed one season of competition and be a starter or significant reserve to be nominated.
