SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific University men's soccer team has qualified for the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid, and will make the program's 37th national tournament appearance on Nov. 22 against Midwestern State at 1:00 p.m. PST in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The Falcons have been on a stellar run over the past month. They secured their first 10-win season since 2021 on Nov. 1. The Falcons earned a share of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship on Nov. 8. On Nov. 15, they played in the first-ever GNAC Championship match. Now, they'll compete in the NCAA Tournament as the fifth seed in their super region on Nov. 22.
"We were disappointed after the conference tournament," head coach
Kevin Sakuda said. "I think we've, the boys have had a fantastic year. Getting the at-large bid is proof of the year they've had. Earning the number five seed is a reflection of all of that and the results that we got through those, so we're excited."
The Falcons have earned several accolades throughout the season.
Brian Lanier,
Brady Fendrich,
Jackson Goode,
Orlando Erazo, and
JJ Diaz have all earned GNAC Player of the Week honors in 2025. The Falcons claimed 10 GNAC postseason awards, led by
Victor Cabanas being named GNAC Freshman of the Year, and
Kevin Sakuda being named GNAC Coach of the Year. In the classroom, 11 Falcons earned a spot on the GNAC All-Academic Team.
The Falcons lead the GNAC and are tied for ninth in the country in goals scored with 45 this season. SPU has been balanced offensively all season long, with 15 players recording a goal in 2025. 11 players have two or more goals. Diaz leads the group with seven goals. Diaz had a hat trick in SPU's 5-3 victory over Western Washington in the GNAC Championships semifinals.
The Falcons have allowed 22 goals this season, the second fewest in the GNAC. Lanier ranks second in goals allowed, while playing 10 more games than the league's leader. He also ranks second in saves with 71 this season.
"We've talked all year about writing our story and creating our own legacy," Sakuda said.
"And this is a great opportunity to do that."
