Four-time champion Seattle Pacific seeks to add another GNAC Tournament men's basketball trophy to its collection and has the homecourt advantage in the first game to begin that pursuit. The sixth-seeded Falcons (14-12) start postseason play on Thursday, March 3 with a clash versus No. 3 seed Alaska Anchorage. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. on Iron Coaching Court at Brougham Pavilion. The Seawolves (14-8) and Falcons split the regular-season series, each winning in their own arena. Two-time GNAC Tournament winners Western Oregon and Western Washington are the only multiple titlists with SPU.
Â
GNAC Tournament
For the 11th time, the GNAC is hosting a postseason tournament with the winner receiving the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II playoffs. A unique feature this year is that all 10 teams will participate instead of the usual six. SPU captured its fourth GNAC Tournament title in 2019, adding a trophy to the display case that includes hardware from three consecutive seasons from 2013-15. Saint Martin's serves as the primary 2022 host with four days of games at Marcus Pavilion in Lacey, Wash. SPU's Iron Coaching Court at Brougham Pavilion will be the site of three men's games during the championships, including a first-round matchup between No. 7 Simon Fraser (12-12) and No. 10 Alaska Fairbanks (8-14) on Wednesday, Mar. 2 at 4:30 p.m. Two quarterfinal contests take place on Thursday, Mar. 3 at SPU. Second-seeded Northwest Nazarene (12-8) meets the Fairbanks/Simon Fraser winner at 5:15 p.m. followed by the SPU/Anchorage contest. Friday's semifinals and Saturday's championship take place in Lacey.
