Women's Rowing

Postcards from Sarasota -- Ingrid Erickson

Freshman rower writes from the women's rowing championships

Hello!

This is Ingrid Erickson writing to you from sunny, hot Sarasota, Florida after a long day of travel to the site of the NCAA Women's Rowing Championships.

Departing Seattle via airplane, May 24, 2022

We started the morning off bright and early with a 5:30 a.m. departure from the shell house on campus. The airport was unusually busy for an Tuesday morning, but we all managed to make it to the gate on time and were super excited to be on our way to Florida.

I sat in Row 30 with two strangers, but one of them was kind enough to let me take the window seat. The 5.5 hour flight went by fairly quick as I slept and did some homework, and soon enough we had landed in Tampa!

The second we stepped outside we were slammed with the Florida humidity. It was 90 degrees, but thankfully our bus had AC. We had a nice one hour bus ride to the outdoor mall in Sarasota where some teammates and I had California Pizza Kitchen for dinner!

We finally made it to the hotel after a long day of traveling, where I am rooming with the other spare Addie Clark! Addie and I are stoked to be here in Sarasota and are super excited to cheer on our teammates in the days to come!!
