SEATTLE – SEATTLE – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference announced its Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team on Thursday afternoon, with Seattle Pacific's
Owen Moriarty and
Jaxon Nap named as selections.
Moriarty enters his second season with the Falcons after transferring from nearby Bellevue College. He made an immediate impact for SPU, appearing in and starting 31 games in 2023-24. He averaged 10.4 points per game and shot 49.6 percent from the field. Moriarty totaled 89 rebounds and 56 assists. Defensively, he nabbed 28 steals, the most on the Falcons.
Moriarty had multiple signature moments throughout his first season with the Falcons. He scored a season-high 19 points in a 91-80 win over MSU Billings on Feb. 24. His best game came against Western Oregon when he had season-highs in rebounds (8) and assists (5) in an 82-69 SPU victory.
"Owen is a tireless worker and an extremely competitive player," head coach
Keffrey Fazio said. "He is a strong, quick attacking guard with a knack for getting to the rim. He is consistent from three and shot 37 percent last season. He is also one of the best on-ball defenders in the conference."
Nap is new to the Falcons for the 2024-25 season. He joins SPU after two seasons at the University of Montana. Nap appeared in 62 games for the Grizzlies, where he shot 44.9 percent from the field, grabbed 71 rebounds, and dished out 29 assists.
"Jaxon is a versatile wing with great size," Fazio said. "He can score at the rim and handle on the perimeter. He's a great passer at 6-7, and he'll help the Falcons make plays this season."
The Falcons open their season in November. They'll hit the ground running, playing an exhibition and eight games in the first month of the 2024-25 season.
