SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team hosts two nonconference games this week. The Falcons take on Evergreen State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before playing Douglas College on Saturday at 5 p.m.
QUOTABLE
"This week is a good opportunity for us to go into the break with some momentum," head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "Our guys have been working hard, and we're excited to compete."
LAST TIME OUT
The Falcons hosted Cal State East Bay last Saturday and showed resiliency, battling back into the game three times before falling to the Pioneers.
Owen Moriarty led the squad with 17 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Jonas La Tour had a fantastic first half. He scored 14 points while going 3-for-5 from 3-point range. He added five rebounds and a steal to his first half total. Jaxon Nap put together another strong game on the boards. He pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Falcons.
TAKING ADVANTAGE OF FREE THROWS
Moriarty is making the most of his opportunities at the free throw line. He's converting 90 percent of his attempts. It's the third-best free throw percentage in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Moriarty has the fourth-highest attempts in the GNAC at 50. Moriarty has made 14 consecutive free throws and has missed just five free throws since the start of the season.
That success at the free throw line has led to outstanding scoring for Moriarty. He's averaging 17.9 points per game, the second-most in the conference.
REBOUNDING EVERYTHING
Nap has had two consecutive games with 10 or more rebounds for the Falcons. He set a career-high with 17 rebounds against Montana State University Billings on Dec. 7. He followed it up with 12 more boards against CSUEB. Nap has 86 rebounds in 10 games. He leads the GNAC with 8.6 rebounds per game.
EFFICIENCY IN THE POST
Trace Evans continues to put together efficient shooting performances from the Falcons. He's hitting 67 percent of his attempts from the field. It's the best field goal percentage in the GNAC.
