SEATTLE – Throughout the summer, the Seattle Pacific sports information team will pose a series of questions to various Falcon athletes. We will feature one athlete each week. This week, it's men's cross country / track runner Nathaniel Gale.

What was the most memorable part of this past season for you?
"For me, the most memorable part of this last year of competition was the travel. Being able to compete in Alaska for cross country at GNACs and going to Southern California during the spring track season were some truly unforgettable moments."

23XC_Gale_NathanielLooking ahead to next season, what are you most excited about?
"I am very excited for our team to show the conference who we really are. We have almost all our athletes returning, and I think we are all in a really great spot training-wise to prove ourselves at conference this year."

What are you planning to do this summer – Work? Vacation? Hang out with family? All of the above?
"A large portion of summer is going to be working and cranking out my summer training plan. I'm also setting aside more time to enjoy being around my friends and family and just enjoying a sunny summer. I'm also going to fly out to Seattle for the return of Falcon Running Camp, which I'm super-stoked about!"

What is your favorite summertime way to stay in shape and prepare for next season?
"For me it's pretty simple: getting up and putting the miles in before I go to work. It's a great way to start my day and gets it out of my way before it starts to get really hot outside. I also enjoy entering into a few local road races each summer just to keep myself sharp."

Growing up, what was your favorite thing to do or what was your favorite place to go during the summer – and why was that your favorite?
Me and my family would always take trips out to see my great grandma at her house on Flathead Lake (in Montana). I always loved doing this because our cousins and the rest of our family would come down from Canada. We would always have so much fun, and I have so many fond memories of going tubing, swimming, catching minnows with buckets and just having a wonderful time with my family."

Someday – maybe sooner, maybe later – what is one place you'd really like to visit, and why that particular place?
:"There are many places I would love to see, but one of the top ones must be either Turkey or Greece. I would just love to see the Mediterranean Sea. The culture and history in all that land is just so rich, from ancient Greece to the Ottoman Empire, that I just feel it would be a crime to not visit it at least once in my lifetime."
