Nap Earns First GNAC Player of the Week Award

PORTLAND, Ore. – Seattle Pacific University men's basketball player Jaxon Nap has earned his first career Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week award.  

"Jaxon has been great for us," head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "We've relied on him every game to put up double-double numbers. He provides us with needed consistency. I am happy for him. He works hard at improving his game and the recognition is well deserved."

Nap was a key piece for the Falcons last week. SPU swept the weekend, beating Western Washington 97-86 last Thursday. Last Saturday, they took down Simon Fraser 71-56. The Falcons have won their last three games, and are winners of five of their last six games.

Nap put together a strong weekend. He scored 28 points, grabbed 23 rebounds, had seven assists, and racked up two steals.

Nap's rebounding numbers have been eye-popping throughout the season. He grabbed eight rebounds against the Vikings before collecting 15 rebounds against the Red Leafs. Nap has 154 rebounds and is averaging 9.6 rebounds per game this season.

Nap has been one of the best rebounders in the GNAC this season. In 16 games, Nap's averaged 9.6 rebounds per game. It's the second-best in the conference. Elyon Zevenbergen of Alaska Fairbanks leads the league with 9.7 rebounds per game over 10 games. Northwest Nazarene's Kye Dickson is third in the conference with 7.4 rebounds per game.

Nap's rebounding is amongst the nation's best. He ranks 20th in the country in rebounds per game.

Nap scored 19 points in Thursday's win over the Vikings. He tied with Owen Moriarty as the second-leading scorer in that game. Nap tied Henry Sandberg with a game-high three assists against WWU. Nap scored nine points in Saturday's victory over the Red Leafs. He added a game-high four assists. Nap's field-goal percentage of 52.7 ranks 10th in the conference as well.

The Falcons travel to Ellensburg, Wash. to take on Central Washington on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. followed by a match up with Northwest Nazarene on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. PST in Nampa, Idaho.
