Sakuda Welcomes 12 in 2026 Signing Class

SEATTLE – 2025 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Coach of the Year Kevin Sakuda announced his 2026 SPU men's soccer signing class, featuring 12 newcomers hoping to make an impact in their first seasons with the Falcons.

"This class reflects exactly what we want SPU Soccer to be about," Sakuda said. "We are adding a lot of talent, but more importantly, we are adding great people. They embody the values that define who we are as a team and a program. We believe this group will play an important role in continuing to move our program forward in the years ahead."

David Ochoa arrives at SPU after two standout seasons at Columbia Basin College following a successful four-year career at Sunnyside High School. Ochoa scored 20 goals and recorded six assists at the junior college level while earning United Soccer Coaches Junior College All-North Region, Junior College All-American, NWAC Baden Player of the Year, and NWAC East Region MVP honors. His collegiate experience and proven scoring ability make him one of the Falcons' most accomplished newcomers.

Julian Perez joins the Falcons from Monroe High School in Snohomish, Washington, where he established himself as one of the state's premier attacking players. Perez was twice named Wesco Offensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Wesco honors while helping his ECNL club capture multiple Northwest championships and the prestigious Dallas Cup. Capable of playing across the front line, he brings creativity and goal-scoring ability to SPU.

Hugh Lear arrives from nearby O'Dea High School in Seattle after four years as a varsity contributor. Lear earned First Team All-Metro honors and was selected to the All-ECNL First Team, establishing himself as one of the region's top midfielders. His familiarity with the local soccer landscape and competitive experience make him a strong addition to the program.

Cooper Schneider joins the Falcons following an outstanding career at Camas High School. Schneider recorded 30 goals and 15 assists while earning two First Team All-League selections and two Columbian All-Region honors. He also received First Team All-Conference recognition in ECNL competition, helped lead his teams to two state championship appearances, and competed in three ECNL playoffs, bringing proven offensive production to Seattle Pacific.

Lucas Morgan comes to Seattle Pacific from Sumner High School in Lake Tapps, Washington. The 6-foot-1 defender earned First Team All-League honors during his prep career and also received First Team All-State and First Team All-League recognition through club competition. His size, athleticism, and defensive presence will provide added depth to the Falcons' back line.

Judah Straight returns to northwest Washington after spending two seasons at North Idaho College. A graduate of Bellingham High School, Straight earned Second Team All-Conference honors as a junior before being named All-Conference MVP during his senior season while starring on both wings. With two years of collegiate eligibility remaining, he brings valuable experience and versatility to the Falcons.

Marcus Saba heads to Seattle from Spokane, Washington, after three varsity seasons at Joel E. Ferris High School. Saba totaled 12 goals and seven assists during his high school career while earning Greater Spokane League Honorable Mention recognition as a sophomore before being named Second Team All-GSL as a junior. His versatility and attacking mindset will strengthen SPU's backline.

Willem Ficek joins the Falcons from Eugene, Oregon, after beginning his collegiate career at Grand Canyon University. A graduate of Marist Catholic High School, the 6-foot-3 player adds collegiate experience and size to Seattle Pacific's roster as he continues his soccer career in the Pacific Northwest.

Isaac Grimes joins the Falcons after a decorated career at Squalicum High School in Bellingham. Grimes earned Northwest Conference Offensive MVP honors as a junior before receiving First Team Northwest Conference and First Team All-State recognition as a senior. He helped lead Squalicum to the 2026 Washington state championship match and also won four state titles with Northwest United, bringing championship experience and attacking talent to Seattle Pacific.

Owen Jenkins comes to SPU from Helena, Montana, after one of the most accomplished goalkeeping careers in the state. Jenkins totaled 16 career clean sheets while earning First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Area, First Team All-State, Western Conference Player of the Year, Team MVP, and 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year honors. His leadership in goal helped Capital High School finish among the state's top programs, making him one of the region's premier goalkeeper recruits.

Braydon Obrero-Ueno arrives at Seattle Pacific from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, where he enjoyed one of the most decorated prep careers in the state. A four-year varsity standout, Obrero-Ueno helped lead his program to three Interscholastic League of Honolulu championships and two HHSAA state titles. He earned All-Hawaii First Team and All-State First Team honors twice each, and received HHSAA Game Impact Player awards in both the state semifinal and championship matches. A versatile athlete, Obrero-Ueno also competed in track & field and volleyball during high school.

Braulio Navarrete transfers to Seattle Pacific after competing at Highline College. Before beginning his collegiate career, Navarrete earned First Team All-Conference honors in each of his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons at Emerald Ridge High School and was named All-Area First Team as a senior after recording six goals and nine assists. His ability to contribute as both a midfielder and forward gives SPU additional flexibility throughout the lineup.

The Falcons open their 2026 season with four conservative nonconference home matches, opening against Stanislaus State on Aug. 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Interbay Soccer Stadium.
